was planted side by side with  mid-priced conventional grass seeds bought locally (Northwest Illinois). In 10 weeks time, the conventional grass had to be mowed 5 times, while the ‘no mow’ not even once.

This slow growing ‘No-Mow’ grass requires limited mowing, usually only once or twice a year, reducing lawn maintenance dramatically. For a more manicured look, mow once a month ( depending on weather, approximately 4-5 times a year should do it).

Ultra Low Maintenance Lawn Seed

Special blend of low growing turf

"No Mow" is a cool season turf mix and is recommended for planting in the regions shown in dark green on the map, will grow in higher elevations not shown on map where temperatures are cooler.

Special (Native to North America) blend of six different fescue varieties, derived of Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) and Sheep Fescue (Festuca ovina).

With a much deeper root system, this ‘No-Mow’ grass needs far less water then conventional seed. Lawn damaging grubs prefer shallow root systems. Less grubs means that moles, skunks and raccoons will look elsewhere for a meal.

Plant "No Mow" at rates of 5 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft., and 220 lbs. per acre.

No time to mow your grass?

Need to conserve irrigating water?

Tired of using lawn fertilizers and chemicals?

Lawn mower gas prices too high?

Lawn service prices too steep?

Too hot to mow?

Rainy weather increasing mowing frequency?

If your  answer to any of these questions is a “yes” then don’t hesitate to make this wise investment which could save you lots of time and money in the long run.

Did you know... that grass is the only “crop” that people actually prefere to not let go to seed?  This grass will produce seed heads like any other grasses, therefore purchasing additional seeds may not be required.

Text Box: Planting Steep Slopes and Erosion-Prone Sites

When planting steep slopes or other erosion-prone sites, we strongly recommend using our "No Mow" with Annual Rye nurse crop. The annual rye germinates rapidly and helps provide quick cover to help stabilize slopes. Again, late August to late September fall planting is recommended. This provides sufficient time in fall for the annual rye and fescue to grow and hold the soil before the onset of winter. On steep slopes, the application of erosion-control blankets is recommended.

This specially designed blend of six low-growing Fine Fescue turf grasses will: Grow to form a dense turf, Thrive in full sun or partial shade, Require little if any watering or fertilizing, Biologically reduce weed growth, once established, Require limited mowing, usually only once or twice a year, Reduce your lawn maintenance dramatically.
